Can you think of people in your life that are actually loving their life? By loving
life, I mean they have peace, contentment, and strength from within. They seem to completely understand why it’s important and meaningful to have joy. Joy, not because of their family, job or daily
activities, but as a result of knowing their life’s purpose. It's something to be envious of. Many years ago, I was in Buenos Aires with a coworker and as we were walking and talking about our lives
all of a sudden she stopped, opened her arms and while twirling in a circle said, "I feel so free!!" How awesome is that? The feeling of delight and satisfaction in your life. This is something
people hope for and envision. As for me, I was personally in a dark time in my life, so to see someone with that type of joy really made me feel a little depressed. Happy for her, but sad for myself.
I remember thinking to myself, what in the world does that feel like? I wanted to feel that way one day. So I begin looking within and concluded it’s incumbent to have a vision for my
There’s a chance that you’ve known your vision since you were a child. What were some of the things you loved doing as a child? What did you dream of becoming? Often times and probably most of the
time, we push those childhood dreams back into the recesses of our minds. We’re told what to do, where to go, how to do things, and how not to do things throughout our lives. As a result, we go
through the motions of living a happy productive life, but knowing deep down there’s more to it than that.
So, why is it important to have a vision?
You anticipate seeing and experiencing a set goal. Think about it - if you’re planning to go on a cruise, you’ll set the timeline, perhaps one year from now. You set a budget, research
ships, destinations, and the length of time etc. Now let’s fast forward - one year later you’re on your way. Woot Hoot!! A vision well thought out and executed!
To incorporate your God-given skills and/or talents. Through working on your vision, you will figure out your life’s purpose and why you exist. If there’s a skill or talent you have
that you’re not using, it’s time to figure out what’s holding you back. Having a vision will require you to have expectations of positive results.
You’ll foresee your future. Not in that mystical (hocus pocus) type of way. You have something that’s clear and concise through visualizing and planning. In the end, you’ll have a sense of
accomplishment and a reason to walk with confidence knowing that you’ve stepped closer to gaining that inner peace, contentment, and strength from within.
It's important to have a vision for your life because without a vision, you're just existing and you're here to do more than just exist. Take note of what you hope for and whom you’d like to be.Take
a leap of faith and watch your vision flourish.
